ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Monday, December 6th at Heritage Park at 6 p.m. We encourage social distancing and ask you to follow CDC guidelines and not gather if any family members have symptoms of Covid, such as loss of taste or smell, runny nose, sore
throat, cough, fever, fatigue, etc. or signs of
any other contagious illness. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping others stay healthy during the holidays.
PLANNING & ZONING PUBLIC HEARING: December 1st at 7:00 p.m. The hearing is regarding an impact area expansion to the city. See city website for details or contact city hall for more information.
HOLIDAY CLOSURES: City Hall will be closed December 24th and December 31th for Christmas and New Year’s.
HOLIDAY GARBAGE PICK–UP: Garbage pickup will be on a normal schedule as Christmas and New Year’s fall on Saturday. PSI Environmental will not pick up garbage sitting outside of the provided container. If you need more than one can for your garbage service please call city hall to obtain a second can. Please tie garbage bags tightly before placing garbage bags in containers.
ILLEGAL DUMPING OF WASTE: City Code 3-1-8: “Responsibility for Disposal: A: Owners: No person shall deposit refuse on or below the surface of the ground other than in a manner prescribed in this chapter. No person shall deposit or bury any refuse in or upon a public alley, street, other public area or upon the premises of another person, whether or not the refuse is in an approved container. No refuse of any kind shall be thrown, swept or pushed into the street in front of any premises. The owner of the premises shall be responsible for the disposal of all such refuse.” There has been an issue with dumping of waste where the city dumpster was located. This service is available to city residents only, from mid–April to mid–November. Once the dumpster is removed, it is no longer legal to dump waste on the site. The site is under surveillance and there is a $100.00 fine for those found dumping illegally. Please remove any items or waste that you may have deposited from public areas and alleys to avoid possible citations and health and safety hazards. Thank you for your cooperation.
SNOW REMOVAL: Keep cars uncovered from snow and parked back off of roads to eliminate being clipped by the snowplows.
OVERNIGHT PARKING: Reminder of our snow ordinance – no parking on city streets from December 1st through March 1st, between the hours of 12 midnight and 7 a.m.
DOG LICENSE REMINDER: Dog tags are currently available at city hall. The cost is $15 per year per pet lifetime. Make sure your pets are up to date. If you have a photo of your pet to put on file this would also be helpful if they are lost.
BUSINESS LICENSE REMINDER: Business licenses expire Dec 31st. Commercial licenses are $20.00. Home businesses are $10.00. You may send in a check to pay for your license and a new license will be mailed to you. (Do not combine with utility payment; it must be a separate check.)
