November 2009

Dear Sugar City Residents:

TREE LIGHTING IN HERITAGE PARK: On Tuesday, Dec. 1st    at 6:00 pm, we will be holding our annual tree lighting ceremony.  There will be singing, hot chocolate and good fun for all who come.

MAYOR’S MESSAGE:  Once again, special thanks to the Tree & Beautification Committee and all others who helped with the planting and watering of the flower barrels.  Also, the display of flowers and plants at the south and west entrances.  We commend our city employees for the service beyond the call of duty in caring for the city parks.  They have been exceptionally well kept and beautiful.  We have received many comments on the parks.  One former mayor commented while smiling “the parks even looked better than they did while I was mayor.”

VETERANS DAY:  Take time to remember and thank those veterans that have served and defended us so we can live happy and free.

STOP WATERING:  October 31st was the last day to water and keep it from being calculated into your average sewer usage.  Our water reading is done for the year. To keep your sewer portion of the utility bill low, don’t start watering until after we read meters again.  This is usually the end of April depending on the snow.  We will announce when to water again in this newsletter or you can call city hall.

OVERNIGHT PARKING:  Just a reminder of our snow ordinance – no parking is allowed on city streets from December 1st through March 1st, between the hours of 12 o’clock midnight and 7 o’clock a.m.

GARBAGE PICKUP:  Because of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 26, garbage pickup for that week will be Friday, November 27.  City Hall will be closed November 26 and 27 for the holiday.

We wish everyone a special Thanksgiving and hope you have a nice day.  We all have so much to be thankful for.  We especially want to thank city office personnel for their good work.  They often serve beyond expectations. We want to express our thanks to all of our citizens for your support and giving us the opportunity to serve.  Please feel free to drop in to the city office with questions and/or for information.
