November 2012

Dear Sugar City Residents:

THANKSGIVING DAY:  We wish everyone a special Thanksgiving and hope you have a nice day.  We all have so much to be thankful for.

VETERANS DAY:  Take time to remember and thank those veterans who have served and defended us so we can live happy and free.

GENERAL ELECTION:  Election Day is Tuesday, November 6.  Those who voted at City Hall will now vote at the new fire station at 110 North Railroad Avenue.  Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

GARBAGE PICKUP:  Because of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 22, garbage pickup for that week will be Friday, November 23.  City Hall will be closed November 22 and 23.

CITYWIDE FALL CLEANUP:  Fall cleanup has been completed and we hope it has been satisfactory to the citizens.  We appreciate those who took the time to bag their leaves and grass clippings.

OVERNIGHT PARKING:  Just a reminder of our snow ordinance – no parking is allowed on city streets from December 1st through March 1st, between the hours of 12 midnight and 7 a.m.

SNOW REMOVAL:  Please don’t push snow into the street when you are removing it from driveways, etc.  City Code 4-2-5B:  “It shall be unlawful for a person within the city limits of Sugar City, Idaho, to stand, obstruct, place or cause to be placed, any obstruction or to cause any object (which would include snow) to be thrown or placed upon any street or sidewalk in such a manner as to render travel upon the public streets, sidewalks, parking lots or public places of Sugar City, Idaho, hazardous, dangerous, frightening or annoying to any pedestrian or traveler.”

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING:  The tree lighting ceremony is Saturday, December 1, at 4 p.m.  We are doing something a little different this year.  We will have a city tree set up in the gazebo and would like every family to bring an ornament to help decorate the tree, and a can good that can be given to the needy.  The party will start at 4 p.m. with fun winter games for all.  There will be prizes given.  Santa has been invited and will be there if he is not too busy.  There will be treats for all.  The lighting will be at 5:30 p.m.  Come and enjoy a late afternoon party to celebrate this great holiday season.  Any questions contact:  Jody Huntsman @ 356-4822 or Bryce Holman @ 390-5760.
