Dear Sugar City Residents:
Happy Mothers Day
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
SPRING CLEANUP: Spring cleanup begins May 20. We will
start on the southwest corner of town and then move east, and then start on the north side of town on the west and move east. Since it is expensive for the crews to backtrack, we will be unable to accommodate backtrack requests. Due to regulations, please be reminded first, we cannot pick up leaves and grass clippings unless they are bagged. Second, we cannot pick up large projects such as remodeling materials, roofing, large pieces of concrete, tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, and used oil. Please cut tree limbs to ten–foot lengths or less.
GARBAGE PICKUP: Because of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, garbage pickup for that week will be Friday, May 31.
MEET OUR NEW CITY TREASURER, WENDY WALKER: Wendy grew up in Montana on a ranch
prior to graduating from Sugar Salem High School. In 2005 she graduated from BYU–Idaho with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She lives in Parker, Idaho, with two of her five children and is restoring one of the first homes built there. Wendy has three grandsons and one granddaughter and considers them “frosting on the cake.” Wendy looks forward to meeting each of the city residents and renewing old friendships. Wendy said, “I am excited and honored to be given this opportunity of Sugar City’s treasurer. Marcie has done a great job and I will work hard to try and fill the void she will leave.”
FLOWER BARREL FUND: It is time to donate for the Flower Barrel Fund. Drop off donations at City Hall marked “Flower Fund.” Thanks.
DOG LICENSES: All dog licenses expired December 31. The licensing fee for each dog is $12 per year. Penalties for an unlicensed dog start at $100. Inside dogs also need to be licensed.
Mayor Glenn W. Dalling, City Council and Staff
Dear Sugar City Citizen:
Today, our community is growing and changing. Over the last decade Madison County has experienced unprecedented growth, which has brought opportunities and challenges that were not dreamed of ten years ago. These opportunities require us to ask some hard questions, questions that will affect the way our area develops for the next 50 years.
We have recently embarked on a process called Envision Madison brought to us from Madison Economic Partners, Inc. (MEPI). This effort is based on the premise that members of this community acting together can envision and shape the future of this special place where we work and live. I invite you to join us in this effort to shape the future of our community for our children, grandchildren and all who choose to make Madison County their home.
Upcoming events that you should plan on are:

Additional examples of the process in other areas can be found at
http://www.envisionutah.org/
Envision Madison provides us an opportunity to work together to determine what values are most important to us, how our community will grow and what needs to be done to establish the quality of life we want for us and our families. It has the support of community leaders, public officials and business people, but it will succeed best if many individual citizens participate.
“The future is not some place we’re going to, but a place we are creating. The paths to it are not found, they are made.” – Jane Garvey
I hope you’ll choose to join us.
Sincerely yours,
Glennero Dalling
