Dear Sugar City Residents:
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very enjoyable holiday season. Might we all remember Him whose birthday we celebrate and the joy of giving and sharing with others in need. May we also look for opportunities to provide service and acts of kindness for our friends and neighbors who need to know someone cares this holiday season.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: We express our sincere thanks to those who helped string lights, bake cookies, pour hot apple cider, and much more. The Tree and Beautification Committee and many others donated considerable time and energy in putting on our Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony this year. Grant & Lina Johnson, Barry King, Richard Johnson, Matt Garner, Rochelle Arnold, and city employee Arlynn Jacobson all helped set up. Tim Solomon, Brad Winward and Carl Farrimon came from Rocky Mountain Power Company to hang lights on the large pine trees, donating their time and use of their equipment. We would like to thank the cookie chairmen who organized those who baked and brought the cookies: Laurie King, Teya Peck, Kristy Virgin, Kristen Galbraith, Paula Arnold, Ruth Miller, and Elaine King. We appreciate the elementary students for singing in the program, their parents for bringing them, and Sandra Linderman for leading them. They put on an excellent program. Thanks to Pam and Ivan Gerdes letting us use their sound system. Thank you to Bill Moss for his exceptional service in the program. Thanks to Brynn Palmer and Sabrina Luthy who helped as Santa’s elves for the night. So many people helped make this possible. We appreciate everyone who came to make this event a success. We cannot function without all your help. Thank you!
SNOW REMOVAL: The city has directed the city employees to do their best to remove the snow berm created by the snowplow and grader in front of driveways. (We have no intent to clear driveways.) They are concerned about damaging property in the process. We cannot assume liability for any damage that occurs. If under these conditions you would prefer that we not attempt to remove the snow berm in front of your driveway, please inform us and we will not attempt to remove it.
“A CHRISTMAS CAROL”: The Rexburg Community Theatre is performing “A Christmas Carol” at the Romance Theatre in Rexburg on December 12, 13, 19, 20, and 22. It is $5 per person and $20 per family.
HANDEL’S “MESSIAH”: The Upper Valley Women’s Choir and the Rexburg Art Council are preparing a concert of Handel’s “Messiah” in the Rexburg Tabernacle on December 19th and 20th at 7:30 p.m. It costs $5 per person. No children age 6 and under will be allowed to attend.
