ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: Mark your calendars! The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony is Monday, December 5th at Heritage Park at 6 p.m. by the gazebo. Come and enjoy hot chocolate, cookies and Santa Claus.
HOLIDAY CLOSURES: City Hall will be closed December 26th and January 2. Have a Wonderful Christmas and New Year!
HOLIDAY GARBAGE PICKUP: Garbage will be picked up as normal on Friday December 30th and Friday, January 6th.
OVERNIGHT PARKING: Reminder of our snow ordinance – no parking on city streets from December 1st through March 1st.
SNOW REMOVAL: Keep cars uncovered from snow and parked back off of roads to eliminate being clipped by the snowplows. The city council has directed the city employees to do their best to remove the snow berm created by the snowplow and grader (no intent to clear driveways). They are concerned about damaging property in the process. We cannot assume liability for any damage that occurs. If under these conditions you would prefer that we do not attempt to remove the snow berm in front of your driveway, please inform us and we will not attempt to remove it.
**DOG LICENCE REMINDER**: Licenses expire Dec. 31st. Cost is $12 per year and is pro–rated for new pets. Make sure pets are up to date. Please read Mayor’s enclosed letter for more details.
IDAHO STATE COUNCIL FOR THE DEAF & HARD OF HEARING:
We will be receiving informational brochures for the deaf and hard of hearing that may be of help to you. If you are interested, please call or come in for more information.
GO PAPERLESS WITH E–BILLING! We really appreciate all of those who have signed up for e–billing! We would like to encourage our citizens to sign up as it helps save the city funds that could be used for other uses to improve our community. If you are interested go to www.paymentservicenetwork.com and register as a first time user. You may opt out of paper bills there. If you go paperless, you will be sent an email each month telling you that your bill is ready to view at this website.
Payment Information: If you pay at www.paymentservicenetwork.com, there is a $1.00 fee for using a check and a 2.75% convenience fee (plus .50 cents if under $100) for using a credit or debit card. If you go to www.sugarcityidaho.gov to make a payment under the “PAY BILLS & FEES” tab, you can select the top choice “Pay Water Bill Directly” from checking or savings and there is no fee. The tab further down the page “PAY UTILITY BILL” will take you to www.paymentservicenetwork.com.
LOST & FOUND: There has been a report of a lost black I–Phone in a case that has been missing since around the 1st of August. We have also had a white I–phone in a girls case turned in on August 23rd. It was found near the high school cross walk. We have also had 2 little girls coin purses turned in that were found near the grade school cross walk on October 13th. If you have any information or questions, please call us @ 356-7561.

November 30, 2016
Dear City Residents,
It is that time of year when our minds and hearts begin thinking of the Holidays. A time for giving and receiving the bounties of life. I am grateful to live in a community where people are always looking for ways to serve our neighbors. Thank you for all you do for our community.
We invite you to celebrate the Holidays with us at our Christmas Lighting Ceremony, which will be held on December 5th at 6:00 pm near the Heritage Park Gazebo. Our Tree and Beautification Committee is sparing no expense or work in preparing for this, so come and join us at this special but simple celebration.
It is also a time for those of you who own dogs to come in and license your four legged friends, as required by City Code. The cost of the license is $12.00 and is required to be attached with the dog collar, which is also required. The license and dog collar helps the city, in the event a dog is running loose, to find its owner and return it to you safely. Otherwise, we would have to turn the dog over to the pound for handling. Also, you are only allowed two dogs per household, otherwise law requires a kennel license.
We have become aware that there are many dogs who are not licensed as required. Therefore, we are offering the following two incentives for you. First, we will waive the $12.00 fee for the dog license during the month of December. Secondly, if your licensed dog is picked up for running at large, the city will return the animal to you the first time at no charge. But remember it has to be wearing its license.
Also, at the City’s Christmas Party, we will be honoring Glenn Dalling as a Sugar City Distinguished Citizen. He has done so much for the city, including being Mayor for two different terms, from 1968-1972, and 2004-2015. The City and I thank him for all he has done, and for always having the city’s best interest at heart.
Thank you for being such good citizens, and may you and yours have a very merry holiday season.
Sincerely,
David D. Ogden, Mayor
