TREE & BEAUTIFICATION COMMITEE: The committee is in need of volunteers. If you are interested please call city hall for information. Thank You!!
WATER QUALITY REPORT: Sugar City has the 2019 Water Quality Report. It is available at City Hall to review.
WATERING TIP: According to research from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, lawns don’t really require as much water as many of us are giving them. Lawns should receive 1/2 inch of water every 3 to 4 days. Place water cans or buckets around your yard when you water. As soon as you get 1/2 inch of water in your bucket or can, stop watering and remember how much time it took the sprinkler to put that much water out. Set your timer to only give that much water every 3 4 days. You will have to water more frequently as it gets hotter in July and August by watering every 2- 3 days. Increasing the amount of water will not help; it will only wash through the soil.
SPRINKLER SYSTEMS: If you didn’t have a test on your sprinkler system backflow preventer done last year, please have one done this year and bring your report into City Hall. This is necessary to ensure that contamination of the water supply will not happen in the event of a pressure loss to the water system. Thank you to those that have already brought in test results!
REVERSE 911 SYSTEM: We would like to encourage all citizens to sign up for Reverse 911. Go to madisonsheriff.com under Alert Sense and it will take you to the page to subscribe for emergency notifications.
NO DUMPING OF YARD WASTE OR ITEMS IN CITY: Dumping at the end of streets or in alleys is not allowed other than the designated times for city clean up in May and October. CITY CODE 3-1-8 RESPONSIBILITY FOR DISPOSAL: A: Owners: No person shall deposit refuse on or below the surface of the ground other than in a manner prescribed in this Chapter. No person shall deposit or bury any refuse in or upon a public alley, street, other public area or upon the premises of another person, whether or not the refuse is in an approved container. No refuse of any kind shall be thrown, swept or pushed into the street in front of any premises. The owner of the premises shall be responsible for the disposal of all such refuse.
BURNING WITHIN THE CITY: City Code does not address burning waste. County guidelines must be followed. See the following website: http://www.fdmadison.org/.You can register there and read the regulations for burning.
DOG LICENSING AND LEASH LAW: There have been complaints of dogs running loose in the city. Sugar City does have a leash law. See city code 4-1-9 B and a dog must be licensed; see city code 4-1-3. Fines may be accrued for non–compliance.
