MADISON  COUNTY  HAZARDOUS  WASTE DAYS: June 10 & 12  from 8 a.m. to  4 p.m. at  Madison  County  Transfer  Station, 530  Airport Rd,  Rexburg, Id. See https://co.madison.id.us/departments/solid-waste or call (208) 356-3102 for more information. 

SUGAR DAYS CELEBRATION: Community Breakfast will be  held on June 17th from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Heritage Park.  Sugar Days Activities begin at 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. We are  inviting vendors to join in the festivities. If you are interested,  please call City Hall for more information.  

SCHOOL IS OUT! SLOW DOWN!  Watch for children  on the roads. The  city has been  receiving calls  from concerned  citizens about  children playing in  the roads. Teach  children to use crosswalks and lights and most important  look both ways before stepping into the road. Not all cars are stopping for lights. 

SPRINKLER SYSTEMS: Backflow preventers are required on  all sprinkler systems. If you didn’t have a test on your  sprinkler system backflow preventer done last year, please  have one done this year and return your report to City Hall or  email it to ajacobson@sugarcityidaho.gov. This is necessary  to ensure that contamination of the water supply will not  happen in the event of a pressure loss to the water system.  Odd numbered addresses are to be tested this year and even  numbered addresses are to be tested in even numbered  years. If you have an even numbered address and did not  test last year, you need to be tested this year also.  Businesses are required to test every year. The deadline is  July 15th to avoid water services from being terminated. If  you have an appointment to have your test done and it is  after the 15th of July, please notify the city at  ajacobson@sugarcityidaho.gov with the date it is scheduled  and with whom. Thank you! 

DOGS IN CITY: Only 2 per household are  allowed. Please keep dogs on a leash at ALL times, even in the parks to avoid city  citation and fines. SUGAR CITY CODE 4-4-6.  Fines are $150.00. 

CURFEW: Parents reminder curfew is 11 pm to 5 am Sunday – Thursday and 12:30 am to 5 am Friday – Saturday. Violation is  a misdemeanor for minor and for guardian. See SCC 4-3. 

ATV LAWS: With summer fast approaching the use of ATV  such as four-wheelers has increased. A reminder that driving  unregistered ATVs on city roads is against the law. ATV may  be driven on city roads if they comply with the following: Vehicle must be licensed  

  • Operator must be licensed and be carrying  license while driving 
  • Helmets must be worn under the age of 18  ATVs cannot be driven on highways or freeways  (which includes Center Street in Sugar City)  
  • Operators must observe ALL roadway laws ATVs are not allowed in city parks or on  schoolgrounds 

BURNING WITHIN THE CITY: County guidelines must be  followed. You must register and read regulations for burning  at the following website: http://fdmadison.org/

REMINDER TO REMOVE NON-WORKING VEHICLES AND  MACHINERY FROM FRONT YARDS: Please read SCC (SUGAR  CITY CODE) 3-2-3. Violation is $150.00 citation.
