**Public Hearing: April 14th @6:30 p.m. for the consideration of an amendment to the 2015-2016 fiscal year budget appropriation Ordinance No. 309. The purpose of the proposed amendment is to show grant and other monies received as well as pending expenditures for the economic development of property north of 3rd North.
Watering: We will be reading the water meters at the end of March. This means you will see an adjustment to your water bill based on how good our winter estimate was. This also means you can start watering again.
**Please let the City know if you have changes in your household size, it could affect your utility bill. **
Flower Barrel Fund: The Beautification Committee is looking forward to a beautiful wind and frost free spring and summer. There will be live flowers blooming in the barrels on Center Street. We appreciate your donations to fund this project. Please drop off any contributions at City Hall.
Spring Cleanup: The city has set a date of May 9th to start spring cleanup. Please wait for city wide clean-up to put out garbage to help prevent the wind from blowing garbage around our city. To help those of you that would like to start your clean-up early, the dumpster on the west side of
town just north of the old elevator will be available for use on April 1st. Please do not use the dumpster for household garbage. Since it is expensive for the crews to backtrack, we will be unable to accommodate backtrack requests. Due to regulations, please be reminded first, we cannot pick up leaves and grass clippings unless they are bagged. Second, we cannot pick up large projects such as remodeling materials, roofing, large pieces of concrete, tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, and used oil. Please cut tree limbs to ten-foot lengths or less. Please remove all vehicles and trailers from the alleys and have everything ready for pickup by May 9th.
Arbor Day Celebration: As Sugar City is an official Tree City, USA, the Tree and Beautification Committee will be holding an Arbor Day Celebration on May 9th, 2016 at 11 a.m. near the gazebo in Heritage Park where a new tree will be planted. Students from the Kershaw School are participating in an Arbor Day Art Contest and the winners will be honored at the tree planting ceremony. The public is welcome to attend.
Despite the forecast, live like its spring.
