EASTER EGG HUNT: Mark your calendars for April 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Sugar City Smith Park for our annual Easter Egg Hunt.
ASAP COMMUNITY SURVEY: Stop by City Hall to pick up an ID number for the survey. For example of survey go to sugarcityidaho.gov.
SPRING CLEANUP: The city has set a tentative date of May 20th to start spring cleanup. Please do not put items out on the roads or alleys more than one week ahead of time. The first week of April, a dumpster will placed on the west side of Silo Park off of North Front & C Street, for items that you need to discard before the city clean–up. Reminder: Household garbage is not allowed at the dumpster.
WATERING: We read the water meters at the end of March. This means you will see an adjustment to your water bill based on how good our winter estimate was. This also means you can start watering again.
WATERING TIP: According to research from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, lawns don’t really require as much water as many of us are giving them. Lawns should receive 2 inch of water every 3 to 4 days. Place water cans or buckets around your yard when you water. As soon as you get 1⁄2 inch of water in your bucket or can, stop watering and remember how much time it took the sprinkler to put that much water out. Set your timer to only give that much water every 3 – 4 days. You will have to water more frequently as it gets hotter in July and August by watering every 2-3 days. Increasing the amount of water will not help; it will only wash through the soil.
**REMINDER**; If you didn’t have a test on your sprinkler system backflow preventer done last year, please have one done this year and bring your report into City Hall. This is necessary to ensure that contamination of the water supply will not happen in the event of a pressure loss to the water system. Thank you to those that have already brought in test results!
REVERSE 911 SYSTEM: We would like to encourage all citizens to sign up for Reverse 911. Go to madisonsheriff.com under Alert Sense and it will take you to the page to subscribe for emergency notifications.
DOG LICENSE REMINDER: All dog licenses expired on Dec. 31st. Dog licenses are $15 per year.
**SEWER AND WATER EMERGENCIES** We would like to remind all residents that in case of an emergency such as a water leak or sewer issue that happens after hours or on weekend, you can call city hall and there is an emergency option that will transfer you to our public works director.

MAYOR’S MONTHLY MESSAGE
Dear Friends,
I would like to express my appreciation to you for the many people who came out during the recall election to cast your votes. It was one of the largest turnouts we have ever seen. Over 460 people voted during the election. I am especially grateful for the number of people that voted to keep Brent Barrus and myself in office. The support is appreciated.
I hope that we can now move forward in healing this city from the bad feelings that were expressed and unexpressed. In view of this we are going to have our annual Easter egg hunt. We have good prizes to hand out, even some bicycles. We will be dividing up into four groups of children; 0-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years, and 10-12 years. There will be prizes for each age level, including one bicycle.
We are also beginning our plans for the summer’s Sugar Days celebration, which will be held on July 20th. We hope to make this bigger and better. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact the city.
Our Arbor day celebration will be held on May 10th, where will be inviting all to attend, including some school children, to help us plant another tree.
Again, thank you for all of your support.
Sincerely,
David D. Ogden Mayor
