NEIBAUR MEMORIAL:  Saturday, July 26th, was a great success.  The flag display was great and, even seeing it, impossible to describe.  A special thanks to Bryce Holman for organizing the flag display and to all the leaders and scouts of the Sugar City LDS Wards who helped to make it possible.  The memorabilia display and program at the high school was well attended and enjoyed.  The unveiling of the monument honoring Thomas C. Neibaur and all the veterans from this area was very touching and sobering.  It was attended by 258 people.  The monument was unveiled by his only living child, Marian Hunkerford, assisted by her four daughters.

The unveiling ceremony included a flag presentation by the ROTC color guard, and Cindy Davis sang the national anthem beautifully.  Following the unveiling of the monument Shannon Williams thrilled those present with her song, “I’m Proud to Be an American.”  The monument was dedicated by Brent Kinghorn.  Some of Thomas Neibaur’s memorabilia, including his coffin flag, was presented to representatives of the BYU-Idaho archives.  A gun salute and the playing of taps concluded the program.  The Neibaur family then enjoyed a light lunch and reunion at the commons room in the Sugar-Salem High School.
