CHRISTMAS MESSAGE: We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very enjoyable holiday season. May we all be reminded of Him whose birthday we celebrate and the joy of giving and sharing with others in need. In all doings and celebrating, we need to be optimistic and look up
instead of down. We need to remember that we can’t look up and down at the same time. An enthusiastic, optimistic outlook is contagious, uplifting and motivating.
TREE LIGHTING ACTIVITY – TREE AND BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE: We express our sincere thanks to those who donated their time and energy with the Christmas Tree Lighting activity at Heritage Park – the men who helped string the lights, the women who baked cookies, poured chocolate milk, the children who sang during the program and Mrs. Huntsman who prepared the gazebo for Santa. We cannot function without your help. Thank you!
HOLIDAY GARBAGE PICKUP: Since Christmas Day and New Year’s Day both fall on a weekday this year, garbage will be picked up on Friday, December 27, and Friday, January 3.
TRIAL RUN OF CITY EMERGENCY SIREN: The city has a siren that sounds when there is an emergency. It has been inoperable for several years, and it has been repaired. WE PLAN TO TEST THE SIREN AT 12 P.M. (NOON) ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2013. Please know this is not an emergency – only a trial run.
OVERNIGHT PARKING REMINDER: No parking is allowed on city streets from December 1st through March 1st, between the hours of 12 o’clock midnight and 7 o’clock a.m. We intend to remove snow between the hours of midnight and 7 or 8 a.m.
SNOW REMOVAL: The city council has directed the city employees to do their best to remove the snow berm created by the snowplow and grader (no intent to clear driveways). They are concerned about damaging property in the process. We cannot assume liability for any damage that occurs. If under these conditions you would prefer that we not attempt to remove the snow berm in front of your driveway, please inform us and we will not attempt to remove it.
