According to City Code, Title 4 Chapter 1, Animal Control, all dogs are required to be licensed. The City is offering 2 incentives to help our citizens get their pets licensed. We are waiving the license fee through the end of February. Also, if your licensed dog is picked up for running at large, the city will return the animal to you the first time at no charge. The animal has to be wearing the license on their collar. The cost will resume to the normal $12 per year and pro-rated rate for new pets on March 1, 2017.
Thank you for licensing your pet!

January 31, 2017
Dear City Residents,
I wanted to report to you some of the exciting things that have happened this last year and what we are anticipating in the year to come.
The City partnered with John Pocock and Kelton Larson to provide necessary water, sewer, roads and other infrastructure to the newly constructed 50,000 square foot fertilizer plant. The City sponsored an Idaho Community Development Block Grant, through the Idaho Department of Commerce, in the amount of $400,000 to make this project possible.
We also purchased a new snow plow to allow us to handle snow removal better, more efficiently and more quickly. We also needed to update some of our smaller equipment that was getting old, such as a new lawn mower and small tractor.
We then constructed a new sidewalk, continuing the one at the north side of Heritage Park, all the way to the northwest corner of the High School property. This will help keep our kids safe as they walk to school. In addition, although they have not been installed, we have purchased some flashing lights, similar to the ones Rexburg uses, for three of our more important crosswalks. Also, we have finished installing about 10 new ADA ramps on some of our corners on Center street. All this to improve the safety of our citizens.
We saw 17 new residences go up in the Old Farm Estates subdivision, and it appears that we may see about that many this next year. The subdivision is looking to expand by opening up another division next to
the existing one. Because there are two new businesses that want to open up in that area, the City may sponsor another Block Grant to help with the needed infrastructure for the subdivision. This could bring as many as 50
new jobs to our community. We are also talking with two new businesses that would like to locate into our Business Park.
I am excited to see the growth happening here in Sugar City. We are still committed to monitor that growth in order to maintain our small-town feel. Thank you for all your support and willingness to make this a great place to live.
Sincerely,
David D. Ogden, Mayor
