CITY PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR RETIRES: We are announcing the retirement of Zane Baler, our public works director. Zane retired May 31st. He has been a dedicated servant to the city and he will be greatly missed. Arlynn Jacobson, our current Assistant Public Works Director will be replacing Zane and we are excited for his promotion and know he will do well for the city. Cody Cureton has been promoted to the new Assistant Public Works Director.
CITY CLEANUP: Our city collected 44 loads from the clean–up. We thank the men for the hard work cleaning up and for your participation to help beautify the city. If you still have items to remove, remember the dumpster located on the west side of Silo Park off of North Front & C Street.
Reminder: Household garbage is not allowed at the dumpster.
NEW CITY LOGO: A new logo design for the city has been completed. It will be revealed in the near future. Thanks to the many citizens who voiced their opinions on our website about what they would like to see in our logo.

SUGAR DAYS CELEBRATION: The city had such good feedback from our Sugar Days Eclipse Celebration last year that we have decided to hold a yearly Sugar Days Celebration to be held on July 21st from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Heritage Park. We invite vendors to sign up to join in the festivities. Vendor permits will be $25.00 this year. If you are interested please call city hall. Information will be in July’s newsletter and on the city’s website and Facebook page.
WATERING TIP: According to research from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, lawns don’t really require as much water as many of us are giving them. Lawns should receive 1⁄2 inch of water every 3 to 4 days. Place water cans or buckets around your yard when you water. As soon as you get 1⁄2 inch of water in your bucket or can, stop watering and remember how much time it took the sprinkler to put that much water out. Set your timer to only give that much water every 3 – 4 days. You will have to water more frequently as it gets hotter in July and August by watering every 2-3 days. Increasing the amount of water will not help; it will only wash through the soil.
**REMINDER**: If you didn’t have a test on your sprinkler system backflow preventer done last year, please have one done this year and bring your report into City Hall. This is necessary to ensure that contamination of the water supply will not happen in the event of a pressure loss to the water system. Thank you to those that have already brought in test results!
