Dear Sugar City Residents:  

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! 

ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION: We  

welcome you to celebrate Arbor Day  

with us on the 9th of May in Heritage Park at 11 a.m. Nine students from  the Kershaw Intermediate School will be honored for their drawings and  a new candy apple crab tree will be planted. We will also be receiving  our annual Tree City USA award. We hope to see you there. 

MADISON COUNTY PRIMARY ELECTION: Voting for the Madison  County Primary Election will take place on the 20th of May. Residents of  the City of Sugar City can vote at the Sugar City Fire Station (110 N.  Railroad Ave.). For more information visit:

FLOWER BARREL FUND: We appreciate all those who have donated.  If you want to help donate to the flower barrel fund, drop off donations at  City Hall marked “Flower Fund.”  

BLACKFOOT MAYOR’S CUP: As part of the Blackfoot Marathon on  May 17, Alexis Moser, a city employee, will be representing Sugar City in  the Blackfoot Mayor’s Cup 5k race. It starts at 10:30 a.m. at Jensen  Grove Park. Please come and support her.  

GARBAGE PICKUP: Because of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, garbage pickup for that week will be Friday, May 30.  

SPRING CLEANUP: Spring cleanup begins May 19. We will start on the southwest corner of town and then move east,  and then start on the north side of town on the west and move east. Since it is expensive for the crews to backtrack, we  will be unable to accommodate backtrack requests. Due to regulations, please be reminded first, we cannot pick up  leaves and grass clippings unless they are bagged. Second, we cannot pick up large projects such as remodeling  materials, roofing, large pieces of concrete and tires. Third no hazardous waste such as: paint, chemicals, batteries, and  used oil. (See Hazardous Waste Collection Dates). Please cut tree limbs to ten-foot lengths or less.  

HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION DATES: Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for Madison County  residents is coming up on May 6th (Tuesday) and 7th (Wednesday). The collection will take place at the Madison County  Transfer Station at 530 Airport Road in Rexburg from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This service is free of charge

DOG LICENSES: All dog licenses expired December 31. The licensing fee for each dog is $12 per year. Penalties for an  unlicensed dog start at $100. Inside dogs also need to be licensed.  

TETON DAM MARATHON: The Teton Dam Marathon is coming up on June 14. Information can be found at  www.dammarathon.com.
