THANKSGIVING DAY: We wish everyone a special Thanksgiving and hope you have a nice day. We all have so much to be thankful for.
VETERANS DAY: Take time to remember and thank those veterans who have served and defended us so we can live happy and free.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: The tree lighting ceremony is December 2nd at Heritage Park at 7 p.m. by the gazebo. Come and enjoy a short program with hot chocolate and cookies.
AWARD FOR YARD WITH THE MOST CHRISTMAS SPIRIT: The beautification committee will be giving an award for the yard with the most Christmas spirit this year. We hope to make this an annual event.
GARBAGE PICKUP: Because of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 24, garbage pickup for that week will be Friday, November 25. City Hall will be closed November 25 and 26 for the holiday.
CITYWIDE FALL CLEANUP: Fall cleanup has been completed and we hope it has been satisfactory to the citizens.
OVERNIGHT PARKING: Just a reminder of our snow ordinance – no parking is allowed on city streets from December 1st through March 1st, between the hours of 12 midnight and 7 a.m.
HOUSE NUMBERS: As winter approaches, the snow will cover curbs with address numbers. Visible numbers need to be on your house so city and emergency personnel can find you. This is according to International Building Code (Chapter 5, Section [F] 501.2), which states: “New and existing buildings shall be provided with approved address numbers or letters. Each character shall be a minimum 4 inches high and a minimum of 0.5 inch wide. They shall be installed on a

contrasting background and be plainly visible from the street or road fronting the property. Where access is by means of a private road and the building address cannot be viewed from the public way, a monument, pole or other approved sign or means shall be used to identify the structure.” Trent Harrison has chosen this project to obtain his Eagle Scout award. He will be contacting those whose house numbers are not visible and offering to secure numbers to be installed by the homeowners. In some cases, by request, he will be willing to assist in the installation. We encourage everyone whose house numbers have not been installed to cooperate in completing this project.
