Dear Sugar City Residents: CITY HALL FRONT FAÇADE COMPLETED: The front façade of the City  Hall building has now been completed. Many citizens have expressed approval  and feel it has added greatly to the city building, Center Street, and the city as a  whole. The city hall sign will be completed shortly.

WATER METERS: Last meter reading of this year will be taken at the end of  this month. Save money – stop watering by October 31st. This will keep the  sewer portion of your bill lower through the winter.

FREE MOBILE FOOD PANTRY: 3rd Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m.  to noon (or until the food runs out) at The Zone: Training Complex and Event  Center (275 Stationary Place). Anyone needing food assistance is welcome.  Please bring your own bags, baskets, and boxes.

ANIMAL ORDINANCE: City council continues to review the public  comments on this ordinance and is considering changes or repeal.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE #307: The council is looking to adopt the changes  to the Sugar City and Madison County Impact Area Agreement. There will be  another reading of this agreement in the city council meeting October 9th. The  public is encouraged and invited to attend.

LARGE VEHICLE PARKING ORDINANCE: The council continues to work towards adopting the proposed  Large Vehicle Parking Ordinance. It is still being reviewed and changes are being made by the council under the  direction of our city attorney. No date has been set for the council vote on the adoption of the proposed ordinance.

HOMECOMING WEEK: The beginning of the school year has created an excitement of activity not only for the  school itself but for the community. The homecoming celebration, parade, and games were very successful. Perhaps  the best attraction in the parade was the large number of students participating.

FALL CLEANUP: Cleanup starts at 8 a.m. on October 20th. We will start  on the southwest corner of town and then move east, and then start on the  north side of town on the west and move east. Since it is expensive for the  crews to backtrack, we will be unable to accommodate backtrack requests.

Yard waste, appliances, and other items can be set out in the alley. Items  may also be placed in front of your home (only in cases of there being no  alley). There is also a dumpster in the compound north of where the silo  stood for clean-up items to be discarded.

Please cut tree limbs to ten-foot lengths or less. Be courteous and make sure  the items set out do not become a public nuisance or are loose to blow in the  wind. Thank you for your help in this effort.

Due to regulations, please be  reminded that we cannot pick up:

leaves and grass clippings unless  they are bagged,

large projects such as remodeling  materials, roofing, large pieces  of concrete and tires,

and hazardous waste such as:  paint, chemicals, batteries, and  used oil.

SOCCER GOALS: The city is looking to replace the soccer goals in Heritage Park with  goals that can be moved around the park to better accommodate soccer games and to reduce  wear on the park. An option to set up a soccer field in Smith Park is being looked into as well.
