ОДО
GARBAGE PICKUP: Because of Labor Day on Monday, September 3, garbage pickup for that week will be Friday, September 7.
WEST ENTRANCE SIGN: The west entrance to Sugar City from U.S. Highway 20 will soon have a new, beautiful “Welcome to Sugar City” sign. It will be made of carved travertine, wood and stone. It is scheduled to be finished sometime in September. It will be a beautiful addition to the community.
CITY CLEANUP: Fall cleanup will start October 15. We will start on the southwest corner of town and then move east and then start on the north side of town on the west and move east. Since it is expensive for the crews to backtrack, we will be unable to accommodate backtrack requests. Due to regulations, please be reminded, first, we cannot pick up leaves and grass clippings unless they are bagged. Second, we cannot pick up large projects such as remodeling materials, roofing, large pieces of concrete, tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, and used oil. Please cut tree limbs to ten–foot lengths, or less. In an effort to cut costs for the citywide cleanup, we are testing the idea of having a dumpster in the city property by the grain silo for yard waste during September and October for those who prefer to deposit their yard waste in the dumpster. Please remove all vehicles and trailers from alleys and have everything ready for pickup by October 12. Again, we are attempting to reduce the costs of citywide cleanup and we would appreciate your support so that we can continue this service.
NO PARKING ZONE: The city council has declared a one block “No Parking” zone on 3rd South from 7th East (Digger Drive) to Pine Avenue. During athletic events parking has become a traffic hazard and especially a safety issue. Wear and tear on the apron of the road has been repaired at a considerable expense to the city. No parking signs have been reestablished and violators will be cited. Thank you for your cooperation.
Mayor Glenn W. Dalling, City Council and Staff
